She is Kanienkeh: ka (Mohawk) Turtle Clan and part of the Six Nations of the Grand River. Since 2017 Darien has been handcrafting modern beaded jewelry and accessories inspired by traditional Haudenosaunee beadwork and other forms and styles of Indigenous artistry. Her style is influenced by her own perspective as an urban Indigenous woman on the journey of cultural reclamation
